HydraFacial vs. JetPeel: Which Skin Treatment Is For You?

Has your skin looked a little dull lately, lacking its usual brightness and luster? Maybe you’re starting to get the dreaded “mask-ne” or some new fine lines because, well, it’s been a year.

Standard spa facials barely touch the surface of most skin issues, which is why we at The Sweet Spot offer two specialty skin treatments: the HydraFacial and the JetPeel. Both will deep-clean, treat, and replenish your skin and get it glowing again, even in Seattle’s gloomiest, grayest months! Read on to learn more about HydraFacials and JetPeels and decide which one is right for you.

What is a HydraFacial?

The HydraFacial is commonly referred to as “the lunchtime facial,” because you’ll need absolutely no downtime after receiving one, and it takes only 40 minutes to an hour, depending on your skincare needs. The HydraFacial is short and sweet (and less expensive than other skin treatments)! It helps with most skin concerns, including oiliness, fine lines, loss of elasticity, hyperpigmentation, large pores, and uneven skin tone.

Even though it’s quick, the HydraFacial packs a punch: the patented technology (a small suction-like device) combines four treatments in one appointment. These treatment steps will have you showing off fresh, dewy skin in the time it takes to eat a sandwich:

  • Deep-cleaning and exfoliation: Essentially, the HydraFacial device “vacuums” dead skin cells, oil, and dirt out of your pores—it’s pain-free and oh-so-satisfying.

  • Peel: Glycolic and salicylic acids draw out dirt from the deeper layers of the skin, leaving your skin super clean.

  • Extraction: This is where we amp up the suction to help clear up any remaining impurities in your skin, which is particularly helpful after your skin’s pores have opened up from the peel.

  • Replenish: This is where the HydraFacial benefits really come in: After being deep-cleaned, your skin will be pampered with essential moisturizing serums that contain antioxidants and peptides to leave you feeling and looking refreshed and hydrated.

What is a JetPeel Facial?

The JetPeel is the newest skin treatment that we offer at The Sweet Spot. Fun fact: We are the only studio currently offering this breakthrough technology in Seattle!

So, why is it unique? Unlike the suctioning device used in the HydraFacial, the JetPeel facial employs what we refer to as a “pressure washer,” which doesn’t sound nearly as appealing as the effect it creates. Don’t be afraid to try it! The JetPeel doesn’t actually make your skin peel, and it's far gentler than a chemical peel. It uses transdermal technology (in the form of a small wand) to generate tiny streams of mist that exfoliate the epidermal layer of the skin in a gentle, effective way. And, just like with the HydraFacial, you’ll require no downtime after this treatment.

The JetPeel technology uses compressed air and 100% natural serums to create “microdroplets” that penetrate deep into your skin to help reduce skin discoloration, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and improve skin texture. Like the HydraFacial, the JetPeel facial has several treatments in one:

  • Cleansing & Exfoliation: The first step cleanses pores to remove natural and environmental debris through Jetstream microdroplets, which dive deep into skin layers, bringing impurities to the skin surface.

  • Transdermal Infusion: This second, essential step is where we restore your skin’s hydration.

After your JetPeel treatment, your skin will look hydrated, brighter, and bouncier, and your pores may appear smaller. All this with no downtime!

If you want to take it to the next level, JetPeel gives you the option to add additional serums to the service to address your skin’s specific needs. Optional serums include Vitamin C, ATX-Nat (a plant-derived Botox equivalent without needles!), and others. Talk to your esthetician to learn more and decide if one of these serums might help your specific skin concerns.

Is the HydraFacial or JetPeel better for me?

We often get asked which of these options is the best facial Seattle has to offer, and the truth is: Both are fantastic! You can’t go wrong with either, but here’s a quick way to figure out which one to try first: If you have specific skin concerns, or multiple skin concerns (like acne AND fine lines and wrinkles), the JetPeel is easier to customize to your needs. The HydraFacial benefits are wonderful for anyone, even if you don’t have a specific skin concern and just need a little brightening in your life. It’s also a quicker treatment, if you’re short on time.

Some clients prefer one over the other, and some like both, depending on what their skin needs most at any given time. Our team of master estheticians is also happy to recommend which service would be best for you.
